Documents you need
The document list for a tourist trip is publicly available, but requirements differ slightly for residents of the Northern Emirates and Abu Dhabi. Here is the Dubai-specific list:
Passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your return date from Japan. You need at least three blank visa pages—even if applying for an eVISA. Your UAE residence visa must be linked to the same passport you use for the application.
Copy of passport. The page with your photo and personal details.
UAE residence visa and copy (+ Emirates ID and copy). Must be valid for at least 30 days beyond your planned return date.
Visa application form. Completed online. For citizens of Russia, CIS countries, and Georgia, two copies of the signed form and two photos are required.
Photo. 45×35 mm, white background, taken within the last 6 months. The photo must be glued to the form—paperclips are not allowed.
Flight booking. An electronic ticket or voucher from an agency.
Hotel booking. Confirmation with full details: hotel name, address, phone number, and guest names.
Travel itinerary. This document outlines your daily activities, accommodation, and contacts—literally hour by hour. The consulate uses this to verify that your trip is realistic. Pay special attention to this document and double-check its accuracy, especially if you used AI tools to help create it.
Original NOC letter from employer. On company letterhead with stamp and signature. The letter must state your position, monthly income, and purpose of travel. It should be addressed to the Consulate-General of Japan in Dubai. Rules differ for business owners.
Bank statement. For the last 3 months, showing daily transactions and balance. Must be an e-statement and no older than 10 days at submission. There is no official minimum balance, but you should have enough to cover all trip expenses. Proof of return to UAE. Additional documents depending on your purpose of travel.
For non-working spouses, children, and students traveling alone or with family: sponsor documents are required, including income proof, bank statement, guarantee letter, and relationship documents (with translation).
Japan tourist visa fees from Dubai
Important update: As of July 1, 2026, Japan visa fees have increased. The single-entry visa fee for most passport holders has gone up from 75 to 365 AED, and the multiple-entry fee from 145 to 730 AED. For Indian citizens (consular fee 20 AED) and nationals of countries with bilateral fee exemption agreements, the fee remains unchanged.
In addition to the consular fee, all applicants pay a service fee to the visa application centre. As of early August 2026, this fee is 110 AED for residents of the Northern Emirates.
