You’ve received your passport with that coveted sticker inside. The documents have been submitted, a decision has been made, and it seems like nothing stands between you and your plans. But there’s one important step best taken calmly and immediately: verifying the details on your visa vignette. To help you feel confident, we’ve put together a detailed breakdown of every field on a UK visa. Take out your passport, and let’s realize how to read it and go through each item together.

A closer look that keeps your plans intact
Even the most thorough processes can sometimes come with a small oversight. It is not the reason for panic, but it’s a good reason to take a closer look. If you notice a typo or a mismatch the same day you pick up your passport, the consulate can usually fix it within a few working days. But if it goes unnoticed, you might only discover the issue when you’re at the airport, ready to fly. And in that situation, even with the best intentions, the airline staff won’t be able to let you board.
What the lines on your Visa sticker mean

Valid from/until
This section shows your visa’s validity period.
- Valid from – the earliest date you can enter the UK.
- Valid until – the last day you can be in the country or cross its border, provided you have unused entries left.
A crucial point: these dates don’t mean you can stay in the UK for every day in between. The maximum number of days you can spend per visit is indicated in the Duration field – typically 180 days per entry.
Number of entries
This line tells you how many times you can cross the UK border within the dates listed in the Valid from/until field. A UK visa is always MULT, meaning multiple entries. You’re free to come and go as often as you need throughout the entire validity period.
Type
The visa type is always shown as VISIT. However, there are several kinds of visit visas: tourist, business, student, family, and others. We assist with all of them – efficiently and reliably. If you were planning a tourist trip but the Type field shows something other than C-VISIT, contact your personal manager at The Visa Services. We’ll help correct the error so you can go through passport control with confidence and peace of mind.
Name
Your surname and first name in Latin script. They must match exactly how they appear in your international passport. This is one field to double‑check with extra care: even an extra or missing letter can cause issues at border control. If you spot a mismatch, it’s best to reach out to us without delay.
Passport No
Your international passport number. Take a moment to check that it matches the one printed on the first page. If you’ve renewed your passport recently but the visa went into the old one, just confirm that the number on the visa belongs to the passport it’s actually stuck in. This happens often, and it isn’t worth worrying – just make sure there’s no error.
Sex
This indicates your gender. It shows M if you’re male and F if you’re female. Mistakes in this field are rare, but it’s worth confirming so you don’t discover an inconsistency at the airport.
Date of birth
Your date of birth is written in day/month/year order. Check that the digits and their sequence are correct, especially if you’re used to the month/day/year or year/month/day format – the date must match your international passport. A quick verification takes only seconds and buys you peace of mind for your entire trip.
Nationality
This field shows your citizenship. For residents of the UAE who are citizens of other countries, this might read, for example, KGZ (Kyrgyzstan), RUS (Russia), IND (India), PAK (Pakistan), or PHL (Philippines).
Duration
Length of stay – this is one of the most critical items. It specifies how many days you can remain in the country per entry. For tourist visas, this is 180 days. In other words, each time you cross the border, you’re allowed to stay in the UK for up to 180 days, but only if your visa’s validity period (the Until date) hasn’t expired.
You can make use of this allowance repeatedly. For example: you arrive for a month, leave, and then re-enter six months later – again, you can stay for up to 180 days, as long as the visa remains valid.
Obsrv. (Observations)
This section is for special notes. Most often, you’ll see the standard phrase: No work or recourse to public funds. This means the visa does not permit employment or access to state benefits. If you see other wording here – such as a requirement to register with the police or restrictions on certain activities – read it carefully. Occasionally, this field contains additional conditions you must follow. We’re happy to help you interpret them, providing thorough guidance so you feel fully prepared for your interactions in the UK.
The bottom line
At the bottom of the visa, you’ll find a strip of characters that are scanned automatically at the border. Usually you don’t need to decode them, but if you notice some clearly wrong data here, let us know, and we’ll help resolve the issue as quickly as possible.
What to do if you have found a mistake
Above all, don’t worry. Minor typos happen, and consulates are accustomed to correcting them. If you discover an inconsistency on the day you receive your passport, get in touch with your personal manager at The Visa Services. In most cases, corrections take just a few days.
Why does a UK Visa require extra attention?
A UK visa demands special care due to the embassy’s strict requirements, especially concerning financial documentation. The application form is so detailed that navigating it alone can be challenging.
The team at The Visa Services has been helping clients travel to the United Kingdom for eight years, and we’ve mastered all the nuances. We tackle complex cases, analyze past refusals, and build submission strategies that leave visa officers with no further questions.
We value your time and peace of mind, so we maintain full control over the process. We can prepare your documents and submit them in record time – sometimes in as little as two days.
The United Kingdom has transitioned to eVisa
Since February 25, 2026, the UK has moved to an electronic visa system – an eVisa. Instead of a sticker in your passport, you receive a digital permission that’s linked to your passport in the UKVI. At the same time the application process hasn’t changed: you still go to a visa centre, give your biometrics, and submit your documents. What’s different is that you now get access to an online account where all your immigration status information is kept. It’s a convenient shift – your passport stays with you throughout the application period.
Professional support helps you avoid mistakes and speeds up the submission process. At The Visa Services, we’ve been helping clients from the UAE navigate every stage of the application for eight years, often completing the documentation in just a matter of hours.
When planning your trip, don’t leave your visa application to the last minute. Get in touch with us and we’ll help you choose the right visa type, prepare your documents, and double‑check everything.
