Russian citizens: no visa is required if the purpose of travel is tourism and the duration of stay does not exceed 60 days per single entry, with a total of no more than 90 days within any 180-day period.

Other nationalities: in most cases, you will need to apply for an e-Visa online or a sticker visa through an accredited visa application centre.

Turkey e-Visa: who qualifies

The Turkish e-Visa is the fastest way to obtain entry authorisation. However, the system has strict eligibility criteria.

Who can apply online?

There are two scenarios for obtaining an e-Visa.

Direct eligibility: your nationality is on the list of countries entitled to an e-Visa without additional conditions.

Visa/residence permit condition: if your country is not on the “direct” list, you may apply for an e-Visa only if you hold a valid visa or residence permit from one of the following countries: the United States, the United Kingdom, Ireland, or a Schengen Area country.

Important nuance for UK E-Visa holders

In practice, the visa application centre is strict when verifying eligibility. Electronic visa formats (UK E-visa) are not accepted as supporting documentation for obtaining a Turkish e-Visa. The system requires a physical visa sticker in your passport or a stamp. If you only hold a digital visa, you will automatically need to proceed with a sticker visa application.

Sticker visa via a visa application centre: when the e-Visa is not available

If your passport does not qualify for the e-Visa, or if you do not hold the required “supporting” US/Schengen visa, the only remaining option is the sticker visa. This is a traditional adhesive label placed in your passport by consular staff.

Application procedure for a Turkey visa from the UAE

Document submission is carried out exclusively at the Turkish Visa Application Centre in Dubai (WAFI Mall, Level 3). Prior appointment booking is mandatory.

Processing Time and Fees

The standard processing time for most nationalities is 14 working days. In exceptional cases, the process may take up to 1 month, although it is sometimes possible to complete it within 7 days. You may submit your application no earlier than 60 days before your intended travel date. The consular fee depends on your nationality and the number of entries (single-entry or multiple-entry).

During peak season or for urgent travel, standard slots may be unavailable. If your trip is planned for the current week and no appointments are available at the visa application centre for the next 14 days, there is a Premium Lounge option. For a sticker visa application (and even for some e-Visa types during verification), a comprehensive document package is required. Visa application centre staff always advise double-checking the list by phone, as requirements can become stricter.

Here is the current checklist for a tourist trip:

1. Your passport must be valid for at least 180 days from the date of departure from Turkey. The passport must have at least 2 consecutive blank pages. The UAE residence visa number in the passport must match the current passport number.

2. Emirates ID and Residence visa must be valid for at least 3 months at the time of application and remain valid for 3 months after returning from Turkey.

3. Original bank statement with the bank’s wet stamp. The statement must cover the last 93 days. The date of the last transaction must be no older than 10 days. The balance must be sufficient to cover travel expenses.

4. Proof of accommodation in the UAE (for residents): tenancy contract or title deed. If you live in shared accommodation, a letter describing your living situation is required.

5. No Objection Certificate (NOC) from employer. Original on company letterhead with a wet stamp. The NOC must clearly state your salary. Important: This requirement applies even to Golden visa holders with the occupation Professional.

Additional for Employees: if the NOC does not include your salary, attach payroll slips for the last 3 months.

For Business owners: certificate of Establishment, valid Trade Licence, and a corporate bank statement for the last 3 months (original with stamp).

Note: e-Visa fees are usually around USD 35-60 (~AED 130-220). Please verify current fees on the official Turkey e-Visa portal, as they vary by nationality and are subject to change.

How to apply step by step

Step 1. Check whether your passport is on the direct e-Visa list. If not, check whether you hold a valid US/UK/Schengen visa.

Step 3. If the e-Visa is available: pay the fee online by card and receive your authorisation via email.

Step 4. If the e-Visa is not available (sticker required): gather the complete document package as listed above. Remember that bank statements must be fresh (no older than 10 days).
