From July 1, 2026, changes to the visa fee rates of the Japanese Consulate will come into effect. The last time prices changed was earlier this year, on April 1.
UAE citizens remain exempt from the visa requirement for tourist stays of up to 90 days. The new rates do not apply to them.
The changes primarily affect expats — residents of the UAE who are not citizens of the country and are required to obtain a visa to enter Japan. The new rates set by the Japanese Embassy apply to them and are valid for applications submitted through visa application centers in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
The cost of a single-entry visa has increased from 75 AED to 365 AED , and a multiple-entry visa now costs 730 AED instead of the previous 145 AED. For Indian citizens, the visa fees have not changed.

It is important to note that in addition to the consular fee, a service fee of 110 UAE dirhams is charged when submitting documents through official visa application centers.
The country explains the price increase by saying that this will help bring visa tariffs in line with the standards of other developed countries and manage the growing tourist flow. Japan has ambitious goals — to receive 60 million foreign tourists per year by 2030.
