Egyptian citizens can obtain a Schengen visa in Dubai provided they hold a valid UAE residence visa. Assemble necessary documents, book an appointment, provide biometric information. This article provides a step-by-step manual of the required documents, processing times, costs, and which consulate offers the highest likelihood of approval rates.
How can Egyptians apply for a Schengen visa from the UAE?
The primary and fundamental requirement is that your UAE residence visa must remain valid for at least three months after the date of your return from the Schengen Area. If the residence visa expires prior to that, it is a common reason for refusal.

Which consulate is preferable to apply through
Applicants need to submit their applications to the consulate of the country where you intend to spend the majority of your time. If you plan to visit multiple countries for approximately equal durations, you should select the country of first entry.
Insight from Reshma, Schengen visa expert at The Visa Services:
“Every year, we assist thousands of Egyptian residents of the UAE with Schengen visas. Based on our experience, consulates pay attention to ‘travel history’ — which countries previously issued visas, for what duration, how many times those visas were used, and whether there were any refusals. Don’t stick to only the countries you’ve already been to when planning travel. Apply at the consulate of the country you plan to visit, Egyptians don’t face extra entry requirements.”
Complete list of required documents
We have compiled three document lists that must be assembled for the visa application. Additional documents can strengthen your application and improve approval chances.
Mandatory documents
- You must have a passport valid for at least 3 months after your return, issued within the last 10 years, with at least two blank pages. If you have an old passport containing travel history, attach it.
- Completed, printed, and personally signed application form.
- Two photographs — 35×45 mm, white background, taken within the last 6 months.
- Copy of Emirates ID — mandatory for all residents.
- NOC (No Objection Certificate) from the employer — a letter on company letterhead stating position, salary, date of employment, and confirmation of approved leave.
Financial documents
- Bank statement for the last 3–6 months.
- Salary certificate on company letterhead.
- Recommended minimum balance per person for a one-week trip: from 10 000 AED.
Supplementary documents
- Medical insurance: at least €30,000, valid throughout you stay at the Schengen.
- For business trips: original invitation from a European company.
- Families: marriage or birth certificate (legalized in the UAE).
- Hotel reservations — for all nights of stay.
- Flight tickets — confirmed round-trip itinerary.
- Travel itinerary — detail the cities and dates you will visit.
- Cover letter — state the purpose of your visit and confirm you will return to the UAE.
- If the trip is sponsored, add the sponsor’s bank statement, salary certificate, and sponsorship letter.
Cost of Schengen visa from Dubai in 2026
The consular fee is standardized for all Schengen countries and amounts to: €90 — adults (12+); €45 — children (6–12); free — under 6. Visa‑centre service fee: 115–150 AED; optional SMS/courier at extra cost.
To this is added the service fee of the visa application center — from 115 to 150 AED depending on the country. Additional services (SMS notifications, courier delivery) may also be arranged at an extra cost.
Reshma, Schengen visa expert at The Visa Services:
“Most applicants don’t realize the total cost is higher than the consular fee — the main expenses are preparatory items: insurance, photos and notarized translations.”
How to increase the approval rate for a Schengen visa
- Apply well in advance. Request appointments 3–4 months before your trip, especially if you plan to travel in summer.
- Submit at the consulate of the country where you plan to stay the longest.
- Monitor your account balance. Show a consistent pattern of income deposits, without large transfers right before submission.
- Confirm that hotel, ticket, insurance and itinerary dates all match before you apply.
- Do not overlook insurance. Ensure it covers €30,000 and is valid across all Schengen countries.
- Establish ties to the UAE. Show ties to the UAE — a job, family, and a place to stay — to demonstrate you’ll return.

Why should you apply for a Schengen visa through our service?

According to our statistics, we save our clients up to 30 hours of time on filling out the application form, preparing documents, and finding an available appointment slot. If you think about it, that’s nearly a full workweek of your time. This is especially important if you need a visa urgently, if you’ve had previous refusals, or if you’re planning a trip with a large family and personal staff (nannies, cooks, assistants).
We know the UAE very well. We understand the specifics of submitting documents through local visa centers and what visa officers typically pay attention to when reviewing applications. Case study of The Visa Service
A client came to our agency with a challenging visa history. Prior to reaching out to us, he had applied for a Schengen visa twice on his own. The first attempt ended in a refusal — with no explanation given (the standard wording). The second attempt was more successful, but he was issued a visa for just a single trip, strictly matching the dates of his bookings. This created significant inconvenience because the client had an active contract with a German partner and needed to visit Germany several times a month for negotiations.
Request
To obtain a one-year multiple-entry Schengen visa, allowing him to travel to Germany without having to go through the entire application process each time. The timeline was tight — the first trip was planned for three weeks later.
What we did
- Audit of previous applications. We requested all copies of the client’s previously submitted application forms and cover letters. It turned out that in the previous application, the purpose of the trip had been formulated too vaguely, and the financial documents did not clearly specify the sources of income or the client’s ties to his business in the UAE.
- Preparation of an enhanced document package. We prepared a detailed invitation letter from the German partner, outlining the meeting schedule for the next six months. We also included commercial contracts, payment orders for previous deliveries, and bank statements from the client’s two accounts.
- Drafting a compelling cover letter. In the letter, we emphasized that the client is an established businessman with an active business in the UAE, which guarantees his return. We also explained that regular short trips are economically justified. Additionally, we pointed out that a one-year visa would reduce the administrative burden on visa centers and optimize the client’s workflows.
- Full support at every stage. We helped book the earliest available slot at the visa center, double-checked the application form down to the smallest detail, and prepared the client for potential questions during the interview.
Result
The client received a one-year multiple-entry Schengen visa (Type C, multi-entry) with the right to stay up to 90 days within each 180-day period. The first trip took place just two and a half weeks after submission.

What the client says:
“Before, I used to spend weeks gathering documents and was constantly worried that the visa might be denied again. Now I have a one-year multi-entry Schengen visa, and I can plan meetings with my partners without having to worry about the visa calendar. This saves me an enormous amount of time and stress. Thank you to the team for your professional work!”

The consular fee for adults is €90 (~360 AED) plus the visa application center service fee (~115–150 AED). Total: from 475 to 550 AED.
Passport, UAE residence visa, completed application form, photographs, bank statement for 3–6 months, employment certificate, insurance (€30,000), hotel and flight reservations, and travel itinerary.
The standard processing time is 15 working days. During peak season (May through August) — up to 30–45 days.
A refusal is not a final verdict. You have the right to appeal to the consulate that made the decision. Better to reapply with stronger documents. Pay attention to the reasons for refusal: most commonly, these include insufficient account balance or weak evidence of ties to the UAE.
