## Web Summit 2026: the essentials

Web Summit 2026 is a four-day technology event in Lisbon that opens on 9 November with a ceremony at MEO Arena and continues on 10–12 November with a conference across multiple stages. The organiser is [Web Summit](https://websummit.com/), an Irish company that has held its flagship event in Portugal since 2016.

The programme covers dozens of industry tracks: artificial intelligence, fintech, SaaS, sustainability, marketing. For startups, there is an exhibition area where founders present projects to investors and corporate partners. Evening Night Summit events are informal meetups in the city where useful contacts are made.

_Important! Web Summit Qatar in Doha is a separate event with its own programme and dates. It is not a branch of the Lisbon summit, and tickets for one do not work for the other._

### Why travel from the UAE?

The Gulf ecosystem is actively integrating into the global technology market. Web Summit is one of the few venues where, over four days, you can hold meetings with funds, corporations and media that are usually scattered across different conferences.

## Dates and schedule by day

9 November 2026 is badge pickup day and the opening ceremony at MEO Arena. On this day, the content programme does not yet start in full: most of the time goes to registration, orientation at the venue and the evening opening.

- 9 November 2026 — badge pickup, opening ceremony at MEO Arena
- 10 November 2026 — first full conference day: main stages, panels, exhibition
- 11 November 2026 — second conference day, continuation of tracks, Night Summit
- 12 November 2026 — third conference day, final sessions

The exact hours of the stages and session start times are published by the organiser closer to the event. Evening Night Summit events take place in different locations in Lisbon — the schedule appears in the Web Summit app.

## Web Summit 2026 tickets: categories and prices

A General Attendee [ticket](https://websummit.com/tickets/attendees/) for Web Summit 2026 costs €995 incl. VAT on the official site. This is the base category, which gives access to all conference stages, the exhibition area and [Night Summit](https://websummit.com/night-summit/).

| **Category** | **What is included** | **Price in EUR** | **≈ in AED** |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| General Attendee | Access to stages, exhibition, Night Summit | €995 | AED 4,280 |
| VIP | Priority access, lounge, additional networking sessions | €1,950 | AED 8,390 |
| Chairperson | Everything in VIP plus fast-tracked entrance and Speaker Lounge access | €24,950 | AED 107,300 |

Prices are as of 29.09.2026. Rate: €1 = AED 4.30 (approximate, verify on the day of publication). Tickets are sold in stages, prices rise as the date approaches. Buy only on [websummit.com](https://websummit.com/) — the organiser’s official site.

For startups, there are separate programmes for participation in the exhibition area, the terms and cost of which must be clarified directly with the organiser. Group discounts for teams are also available through the official channel.

## Getting to Lisbon from Dubai and Abu Dhabi

A direct flight from Dubai to Lisbon takes about 8 hours.

- DXB → LIS direct: ≈ 8 hours 15 minutes (Emirates)
- AUH → LIS nonstop ≈ 8 hours 55 minutes (Etihad)
- AUH → LIS with a stop via Doha, Istanbul or European hubs
- Lisbon Airport (Humberto Delgado, LIS) is 4 km from the MEO Arena venue

It is worth arriving in Lisbon on 8 November 2026. This will allow you to get your badge without haste on 9 November, get oriented at the venue and attend the opening ceremony. Arriving on 9 November creates a risk of being late for the start of badge pickup due to possible delays at the border.

## Where to stay and how to get to the venue

The Parque das Nações district is the closest to the venue, but also the most expensive on Web Summit dates. A hotel here allows you to walk to MEO Arena and FIL. Alternatives are Baixa-Chiado and Avenida da Liberdade: cheaper, but the metro is required.

| **District** | **To the venue** | **Pros** | **Cons** |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Parque das Nações | On foot (5–15 min) | Proximity, less logistics | Highest prices |
| Baixa-Chiado | Metro + transfer (30–40 min) | Centre, restaurants, atmosphere | Rush hour traffic |
| Avenida da Liberdade | Metro (25–35 min) | Balance of price and location | Fewer options on summit dates |

Hotels on Web Summit dates sell out in advance. It is worth booking immediately after buying a ticket — prices in Parque das Nações on summit days can rise.

## Getting to MEO Arena and FIL on the day of the conference

The Lisbon Metro Red Line goes to Oriente station. From there to MEO Arena is about a 10-minute walk. From Baixa, the journey takes 30–40 minutes including a transfer. Allow time for the morning rush hour: on summit days, the flow of participants coincides with normal city traffic. At the entrance, a ticket with a QR code will be required to receive your badge.

### From Lisbon Airport to the venue

Humberto Delgado Airport is approximately 4 km from MEO Arena. By metro from Aeroporto station to Oriente — about 10 minutes on the Red Line. Taxi or transfer takes 10–15 minutes depending on traffic.

## Making the most of Web Summit as a founder or investor

Meetings via the Web Summit app should be scheduled before arrival. The app opens access to the list of participants and allows filtering by industry, role and interests. By the time the conference opens, the meeting schedule should already be full.

For fintech and AI startups, the most relevant tracks are those where representatives of funds and corporations from the relevant sectors speak. The exhibition runs all three days, but each ALPHA startup exhibits for one day — the day should be chosen in advance.

For investors, Web Summit is a venue for early acquaintance with projects before rounds. Many funds from the UAE and Saudi Arabia send partners to the summit for scouting.

### What else to see in Lisbon

It is worth setting aside one window outside the conference for the trip. Lisbon is compact: the historic centre, Belém and Alfama can fit into half a day.

- Belém — Torre de Belém, Jerónimos Monastery, pastel de nata
- Alfama — narrow streets, viewpoints, fado
- Sintra — palaces and parks, half a day trip from Lisbon

If you arrive on 8 November, the first evening can be spent in the centre without being tied to the summit programme.

## What to know before you go

In November, Lisbon is cool and rainy. During the day about 17–19 °C, at night 11–13 °C, rain falls on approximately 10 days in the month. Dress in layers, with comfortable shoes for walking around the venue and the city.

- Time difference: the UAE is 4 hours ahead of Lisbon in November 2026 (Portugal returns to WET, UTC+0, on 25 October 2026)
- Payment: cards are accepted almost everywhere
- EES: from 10 April 2026, a digital entry-exit system with biometrics (photo and fingerprints) operates at the Schengen border for all third-country nationals. Registration is carried out on first entry
- Currency: euro (EUR). Check the rate to AED before the trip

## Visa to Portugal for UAE residents

UAE residents whose passports require a Schengen visa (for example Indian, Pakistani, Filipino or Russian will need a type C visa to Portugal. You can apply at the visa application centre in Dubai or Abu Dhabi with a valid UAE residence visa. Apply as early as possible: Portugal asks for at least 15 calendar days between submission and travel: for an 8 November arrival, submit by 24 October 2026.
